Allergies… or COVID-19?

Spring is here, officially, and that often means bracing for pollen related allergies that accompany it. Last year, COVID-19 swept over our communities and made the seasonal allergies all the more frustrating as it was hard to tell when symptoms warranted following quarantine measures, or to take some antihistamines and continue on with our days. This year, we face similar challenges, but after over a year of getting familiarized with COVID-19, the CDC has more resources for us this season than they did last year. While it’s always safest to see a care provider, like those at our urgent cares, we have listed a few things from the CDC that you can use to make decisions about your health care needs.

Symptoms more common of COVID-19

  • Fever and chills
  • Muscle and body aches
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Symptoms more common of seasonal allergies

  • Itchy or watery eyes
  • Sneezing

Symptoms common of both

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing*
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
