Self-Care isn’t Selfish!

Are you making time for yourself?

If you aren’t, then you should be. Self-care isn’t selfish!

It’s very easy to get into the routine of things and forget to take care of yourself. Not only is this harmful to your mental health, but it can also have a direct affect on your physical health. Increased stress is linked to insomnia, weight gain, trouble focusing, the list goes on.

So, what should you do if you feel stressed out? We have 3 tips for you!

  1. Take 15 to breathe

15 minutes is sometimes all it takes to help you feel more relaxed. Take these minutes to take some deep breaths, close your eyes and relax your mind. This short mental break can help rejuvenate your brain and recharge you to finish up whatever tasks you have for the day

  • Get Active!

Many times, when we are stressed, our first instinct is to roll up in a ball on the couch. But that is actually one of the worst things you can do! Get moving. Go on a walk, go for a swim, or check out a class at a nearby gym. When you move your body, you are releasing endorphins in your brain which are crucial in your mental health! Try to be active as much as you can!

  • Find a Hobby

Find something that you love and make it yours! Many people have hobbies that help them relax when times get stressful. Having an activity to do that will help you decompress and relax is important.

Most importantly, don’t be afraid to get help. Life gets hard and times are stressful, but your health should be a top priority. Don’t know where to start? Stop by one of our walk-in clinics and we will make sure that you get the help that you need.
